Bonnie and Clyde Love Story
This is truly a love story for the rebel at heart. It is a tragic story of love and excitement but it still holds a special place in our hearts as a piece of Americana love and the gangster movement. It takes place during the rise of people like Al Capone and other notorious criminals.
Bonnie was an intelligent young woman from Texas. She was well educated, well spoken and very opinionated and independent. She wanted to be a famous actress. She had a thing for the "bad boys" as her mother described. She met Clyde while working in a diner in late 1929 or early 1930. She instantly felt an attraction for Clyde and he felt the same way about her.
Clyde had a gang of criminals whom enjoyed robbing banks but mostly small shops and convenience stores. Bonnie became a part of his scheme and the two became an elusive duo who eluded cops at every turn. America homed in on the two because a woman was rarely involved in such high stake and violent criminal affairs, and she was doing it all out of her love for Clyde. She vowed that she would die for him. And Clyde had only two loves: robberies and Bonnie. In his own way, Clyde made her very happy. She got the fame she always wanted!
The two had many incredible escapes from police forces. In hails of bullets where other members of the gang would be killed, Bonnie and Clyde always managed to escape. Bonnie often drove the getaway car and while she participated in the heists, it is reported that she did not carry a weapon.
In 1934 Clyde arranged for a huge prison breakout in the Texas Department of Corrections for several of his imprisoned gang members. The breakout was successful, but many innocent people and police offers were killed in the process. Clyde was a ruthless killer. A Texas Ranger by the name of Hamer was assigned to track them down. Hamer was a man hunter and had no intention of taking the two alive. He was an experienced tracker and caught up with the two in Louisiana in a month.
He set a trap for Bonnie and Clyde who never suspected what was going to happen. Hamer was expecting them to visit a fellow gangster's family. On the road to the family home, he set the trap and had his own posse hiding in the bushes. There was no warning, only an immediate open fire. Each member was told to empty their guns into the car. Clyde was killed instantly but Bonnie suffered. Each body was reported to have 50 gunshot wounds, some say 25 each. Bonnie never had a weapon on her for defense.
Bonnie and Clyde really did go down in a blaze of glory and a hail of bullets.
